Index Cards

These were integral to my passing the exam. A great advantage of using index cards is there portability. I’d take these cards everywhere. On each card I tagged the top with the name of the credit, the section it was from, and the specific number reference so that I could refer to the reference guide. On each card I wrote a brief description of the credit so that the index card reflected information that you might need for a test questions, i.e. specific percentages, terminology, relevant numbers, etc.

I said in the Reference Guide section that I don’t recommend straight memorization. I think that it’s a nice benefit to the “understanding” of the LEED system. When you begin to see how and why the USGBC chooses percentages it will be easier to classify which threshholds are used for which credits. The index cards are a good way to become familiar with these trends specifically because you will be constantly reviewing them and making connections.

Create the cards and review them as many times as you can stand!
